MAJOR FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR THE

FONDATION DU CENTRE DE RÉADAPTATION UBALD-VILLENEUVE (CRUV)

"ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND GAMBLING:

LIVES WITHOUT ADDICTION, IT DEPENDS ON YOU, TOO"

Why a Major Fundraising Campaign?

Numbers Talk

Ø       For every dollar invested in rehabilitation, 9 to 18 dollars invests are saved in various services to these clients. In fact, people who do not have access to detoxification and rehabilitation services are likely to repeatedly clog up hospital emergency rooms and mental health departments by occupying beds and overusing clinical health services.

Ø       In the National Capital Region, in 2007-2008, only 11% of adults and 12% of youths under the age of 18 presenting severe alcohol, drug, or gambling problems received services at the centre specializing in their addiction. That being said, in order to have an impact on improving the state of health of a population, it has been determined that 30% of these individuals should receive specialized services. That's the objective at Centre de réadaptation Ubald-Villeneuve.

Ø       According to a study published in 2006 by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, the costs attributable to substance abuse in Québec in 2002 were as high as $8.6 billion, and $39.8 billion for all of Canada

Ø       Although those who require it can receive support and motivation services while they wait, more than 400 people, both youths and adults, do not have access to specialized rehabilitation services for up to 2 and a half months.
